Slovak private station TV Joj is planning to launch a new broadcasting channel named Joj Plus. Tatiana Tóthová, the TV Joj spokeswoman, told FNE, "It will start in the beginning of autumn."

The new Slovak film Muzika directed by Juraj Nvota, which premiered April 17 and then won nine Slovak film awards, now can boast a record number of admissions. The Film Distributors Union (www.ufd.cz) reports that during its first four days 4,261 viewers saw Muzika - the highest attendance since the turn of the century.

The Polish-Slovak feature Strawberry Wine by Polish director Dariusz Jablonski premiered in Slovak cinemas on April 10.


A full-length documentary, Blind Loves by director Juraj Lehotský, premiered on Wednesday (March 26) in Slovakia, the second debut this month for the formerly dormant Slovak film industry. In 2006, not a single major Slovak full-length feature film was produced while in 2007 there were four full-length feature films, all of them directors' debuts.
