Nicholas Roeg at Karlovy Vary
17 April 2008 By FNE Staff

This year's Karlovy Vary Film Festival will pay tribute to top British filmmaker Nicholas Roeg, who will be on hand during the festival July 4-12 to personally present five of his films. The controversial filmmaker first gained recognition as cameraman on Francois Truffaut's Farenheit 451.

The festival will focus on the Netherlands this year, highlighted by Adrift, a provocative drama by director Michiel van Jaarsveld, the festival website said (www.kviff.cz). The retrospective will also focus on works by Nanouk Leopold and Heddy Honigmann, two of the Netherlands' most highly regarded female directors.

Meanwhile, Night Owls, a contemporary Prague love story directed by Michaela Paviatova, was named the Czech Republic's entry in the Official Selection competition. The movie was produced by Negativ Film Productions in co-production with Czech Television.
