Blind Loves Goes to Cannes
29 April 2008 By Jana Kadlecova

Slovak full-length documentary film Blind Loves from director Juraj Lehotsky has been selected for the International Film Festival Cannes, running from May 14-25. The news was announced by Marko Skop, the head of Blind Loves' production company Artileria.

Blind Loves, which premiered March 27, depicts the life and hopes of several blind people. It swept the awards at the Czech/Slovak film festival Febiofest (www.febiofestsk.sk) winning both for producer (Artileria - www.artileria.sk) and director.

Blind Loves will be screened in the non-competition section Quinzaine des Realisateurs (Directors´ Fortnight), and is next headed for the documentary competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. The last Slovak films selected for Cannes were Frantisek Vlacil's 1969 Marketa Lazerova and Juraj Jakubisko's 1971 Birds, Orphans and Fools, both screened in the same section.
