Names of the authors of the 12 selected scripts will be announced in the beginning of next week.

The third edition of ScripTeast is starting on the 29^th of September. The Independent Film Foundation, organizer of ScripTeast, has received a so far record number of applications from all countries of the region. Just like in previous editions, the biggest number of the applications come from Poland and Hungary but also Czech Republic and Croatia, which joint the group of eligible countries only in spring this year, proving there's a need for training programs for professionals.

Among the scriptwriters applying to the 3^rd edition are the authors of films nominated to Golden Palm, Golden Globe and many other international film awards and submitted scripts represent variety of film genres.

The 3^rd edition of ScripTeast will commence with a weeklong Lab in Ossolinski Palace in Sterdyn, Poland. The participants will be working with a group of Creative Advisors featuring, ie. Andrew Birkin (director and scriptwriter, author of screenplays for "The Name of the  Rose", "The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc" and "Perfume"), George Sluizer (scriptwriter and director, author of "Vanishing" and "The Commissioner"), Michael Taylor (Chair of Film and Television Production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, LA; producer, ie. "Phenomenon", "Instinct", "Copying Beethoven"), Miguel Machalski (one of the best international script editors) and Gordy Hoffman (scriptwriter, lecturer at USC, LA). Tom Abrams (professor at USC, LA, award-winning scriptwriter and director) and Christian Routh (long-term Head of Selection of European Script Fund, lecturer and script editor) have again accepted to take up Heads of Studies roles.

Following the stationary Lab the work will be continued online until the next session, conducted during Berlinale. After that the scriptwriters will have another 2 months to complete their work and submit the final version of their scripts, which will compete for the Krzysztof Kieslowski Award for the Best Eastern and Central European Script at Cannes Film Festival 2009.

ScripTeast is organized by the Independent Film Foundation and supported by Media Programme, Polish Film Institute, Polish Television (TVP) and Apple Film Production, with partnership of European Film Academy, Ateliers du Cinéma Européen, Producers Network,  e-Talenta, Final Draft and festivals in Berlin, Cannes and Karlovy Vary and under the patronage of magazines Kino and Ha!Art.
