FNE Oscar Watch 2020: North Macedonia Selects Honeyland as Oscar Bid

SKOPJE: Honeyland / Medena zemja by Ljubomir Stefanov and Tamara Kotevska has been selected as North Macedonia’s candidate for the 92nd Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the best international feature film category. The Oscar nominations will be announced on 13 January 2019 and the ceremony will be held on 9 February 2020.

BUCHAREST:  The Whistlers / La Gomera by Corneliu Porumboiu has been selected as Romania’s candidate for the 92nd Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the best international feature film category. This Romanian/French/German coproduction had its world premiere in the Competition of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

FNE Oscar Watch 2020: For the First Time Estonia Has Two Films Competing for Oscars

TALLINN: A committee led by the Estonian Film Institute has selected Truth and Justice by Tanel Toom as Estonia’s candidate for the 92nd Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ award in the best international feature film category. The Estonian/Latvian coproduction Immortal by Ksenia Okhapkina won the Grand Prix for Best Documentary at the Karlovy Vary IFF and thus received the right to be submitted for consideration for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.
