My Flesh My Blood by director Marcin Wrona combines the clash between two cultures with a universal story about the need of continuity.
Igor, a boxer, suffers fatal brain damage during one of his fights. Left with a short time to live, he decided he wants to leave a child on this Earth. He fails to make several chance relationships to work, while his time runs out. Suddenly he meets Yen, a Vietnamese woman who needs to get married in order to get Polish citizenship. The couple makes a deal, but Igor finds out that he doesn't have enough time to marry the girl and see his child. He decides to find her a new groom and a father for his baby.
The script for My Flesh My Blood (Tamagotchi), written by Marcin Wrona and Grażyna Trela, was the winner of the Polish edition of the Hartley-Merril competition and took 3rd place in the international edition of the same contest in 2007. Before the screening in Gdynia, My Flesh My Blood was recognized locally during the "Youth and Film" Debut Film Festival in Koszalin, winning prizes for the best script, best sound and the Journalist's Award.
The movie was produced by Opus Film (www.opusfilm.com) in co-operation with Public Polish Television - Film Agency (www.tvp.pl) and Canal+ Polska with a budget of the 3.8 million PLN (€920,000).
