Ji.hlava news & Submissions deadline

    Look forward to 24th Ji.hlava!

Five months are left for the 2020 edition of Ji.hlava IDFF to kick off. We very much hope that the situation at the end of October will be more favourable, yet we are working with several scenarios of future development. However, a cancellation of the upcoming edition is not an option for us. We don’t want to see 2020 go down in the history of filmmaking as a grey zone with numerous “abandoned films” – that will have been erased by the pandemic or that were not lucky enough to reach their audiences. Read more information here.

May 31 is the deadline for film submissions

Until the end of this week you can submit your films completed in 2020. By July 31 you can still send us your rough cuts and films that have so far not had a festival world premiere. We accept feature-length and short films as well as animated and interactive documentaries. Films premiered at Ji.hlava have the chance to be nominated for the European Film Academy Awards, and the winners at the Ji.hlava IDFF are eligible also for Oscar® consideration.

East Silver Market 2020 expects your applications

East Silver Market supports distribution and promotion of documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe. This major film market is organised by the Institute of Documentary Film during the Ji.hlava IDFF in October. Creative documentaries from the region are still welcome to apply, the deadlines match the festival’s ones – May 31 for films produced in 2020 and July 31 for rough cuts.
