BRATISLAVA: Heart of a Tower/Srdce veže by director and animator Peter Budinský, will be the first Slovak animated feature film after 33 years. Its premiere is set for 2020.

Sweden’s Eyewell Picks Up 1944

TALLINN: Swedish-based Eyewell has picked up international rights for Elmo Nüganen’s upcoming Estonian war epic 1944. The film makes its market debut at this year’s Berlin European Film Market and will open domestically in February 2015.

ZAGREB: MEDIA Desk Croatia distributed 3.3 m EUR of non-refundable grants in its five years of existence, from 2008 to 2013. The MEDIA Sub-Programme gave 531,424 EUR to Croatian audiovisual projects in 2014.

East Doc Platform, the most important industry event dedicated to documentary films from East and Central Europe, organized by the Institute of Documentary Film, will take place in Prague from 2 to 8 March 2015.

RIGA: Five Latvian features, including Laila Pakalnina's Dawn, are expected to be released in 2015.

Malta Film Fund Supported 20 Local Projects

VALLETTA: Twenty projects were supported by Malta Film Fund in 2013 with a total amount of 230,000 EUR.

BUCHAREST: Seenow, the first Romanian service of live TV and VoD available on all screens, had 19,564,591 viewers in 2014.

BRATISLAVA: The 4th edition of the Visegrad Film Forum, which will take place in Bratislava form 11 to 14 March 2015, will welcome renowned film professionals, who will share their success stories with the audience.

Small Screen Takes Over Polish Animation Studio

LODZ: British film company Small Screen took over one of the oldest Polish animation studios Se-Ma-For, due to its financial problems. Se-Ma-For has been active since 1947, with more than 1400 movies produced.

Beta Cinema Acquires Aferim!

BUCHAREST: Radu Jude's historical film Aferim!, selected for the competition section of Berlinale, will be sold internationally by the German company Beta Cinema. Its press screening and world premiere are set for 11 February.
