OBITUARY: Velko Kanev

ImageSOFIA: Bulgarian actor Velko Kanev died on 11 December 2011. Kanev was born 31 July 1948 and began his career in regional theatre before joining the Bulgarian National Theatre in 1979.  He began acting in films in the early 1970's, but it was his lead performance in the successful 1982 film A Nameless Band that made him a star. He appeared in over 40 films, the last in 2010.

The Bulgarian National Theatre held a memorial service for him on 14 December.
