SOFIA: The Bulgarian production company Agitprop (www.agitprop.bg) is in the final postproduction on The Last Black Sea Pirates and Sir Norman Foster, a debut full-length documentary directed and written by Svetoslav Stoyanov, along with writer Van, along with writer Vanya Rainova. The story looks at the conflicting paths of the last active group of Bulgarian pirates who call a remote Black Sea beach their home, and a British architect designing a marina complex to be built on that same stretch of coast. The documentary contrasts the lives and "careers" of the misfit pirates, living in an old trailer, with the world-famous architect in his London high-rise. The 160,000 euro film has confirmed funding from the MEDIA Programme (ec.europa.eu), the Bulgarian National Film Center (www.nfc.bg), Bulgarian public broadcaster BNT (bnt.bg) Canadian company Knowledge, Polish public broadcaster TVP (www.tvp.pl), and Duna TV (www.dunatv.hu) of Hungary. The documentary is film in HD format. Martichka Bozhilova produces for Agitprop (Corridor No. 8). The film is scheduled for release in spring 2012.
