Third Season of Newspapers Films in Croatia

    RIJEKA: Newspapers, the first Croatian TV series sold to Netfilx, is currently filming its third and final season at 50 locations along the Adriatic coast. The series is directed by Dalibor Matanić, who won the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize in Cannes in 2015 for his Croatian/Serbian/Slovenian war drama The High Sun (Kinorama, SEE Film Pro and Gustav Film).

    The series is based on the script by renowned journalist and writer Ivica Đikić and produced by Nebojša Taraba. It focuses on political corruption and the role of journalists and the judiciary in fictional high-policy developments.

    Shooting began on 28 May and will continue until 2 July 2019. Croatian actor Dragan Despot appears in the role of newly elected Croatian President.

    The first season of Newspapers, which was sold to Netflix in 2015, became available in 130 countries. The final season will be screened in 2020, first on Croatian Television, and then on Netflix for subscribers in 198 countries.

    According to the producer, Newspapers has attracted a lot of attention of Netflix viewers, especially in Scandinavian and South American countries. Israeli distributor Keshet International is handling international sales for the TV.

    The series was produced by Drugi Plan for the Croatian Television, with a budget of approximately 1.3 m EUR per season.
