Welsh funding for Cyprus film

    The Film Agency for Wales has granted £150,000 (€175,000) to the Cyprus-set film The Silk Man.

    The film is co-produced by Welsh producer Philippa Thomas of Thomas Thomas Films (thomasthomasfilms.co.uk). Cyprus producer Stavros Papageorghiou of Tetraktys Films (www.tetraktys.tv) received €30,000 in EU Media funding for the film. Producers had previously received a small research grant from Wales Arts International in 2004. Other reported funding sources include the Irish Film Board and the Cyprus Cinema Advisory Committee ,

    The Silk Man is described as a "magic-realist fable," written by Margery Constantas and directed by Kevin Thomas.
