FESTIVALS: Febiofest Presents Section to Commemorate World War II

    PRAGUE: Febiofest will introduce a new section entitled Poland 44 on the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Prague.

    The films of the Poland 44 section will be introduced by a special guest, Jan Ołdakowski, the director of the Warsaw Uprising Museum, which produced the film The Warsaw Uprising.

    Films to be presented include Andrzej Wajda's 1957 film Canal, as well as Jan Komasa's Warsaw 44, about a love story between young rebels during the uprising in Warsaw. Warsaw 44 was produced by Akson Studio in coproduction with Telewizja Polska, Orange Polska, Narodowe Centrum Kultury, Mazowiecki Instytut Kultury, Mazowiecki Fundusz Filmowy and Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego. The film was supported by the Polish Film Institute.
