ZLIN: The 55th edition of the Zlin Film Festival for Children and Youth opens 29 May and runs through 4 June 2015.

The festival special country focus will be on Germany, with some 40 German films being screened in multiple sections.

In the competition programmes, the only films representing the CEE region are a pair of Czech/Slovak coproductions: The Seven Ravens (ATTACK Film) directed by Alice Nellis will screen in the competition of films for children; and Hostage (ALEF Film) directed by Juraj Nvota will screen in the competition of films for youth.

The festival will also once again hold a casting call for local children to vie for a role in a Czech children’s movie.

The programme of animated shorts and feature films includes over 350 films, including 13 world premieres. Czech production will be in the spotlight with a section devoted to Czech films and TV production, and another section devoted to a panorama of films produced by the Zlin Film Studio.
