KARLOVY VARY: Revenues for Czech producers grew by 18% in 2014 compared to 2013 driven by advertising production and commissions from abroad according to a report by APA the Czech Audiovisual Producers Association.

Czech production revenues from advertising rose by 40% in 2014 to 1,960m CZK.

Czech independent film and television production for the same period dropped by 20% compared to 2013 after experiencing a run of four years of growth.  Revenues fell from 795m CZK in 2013 to 646m CZK in 2014.  This was in spite of an increase in the share of external production by Czech TV from 41% of total production in 2013 to 45%.

Radomír Dočekal, vice-president of the APA, said that the Czech Republic needs new producers and he appeals to young people to consider this career path, reminding them that that the APA grants scholarships to first-time producers.
