Vojtech Jasny Honoured at Prague Alma Mater

    PRAGUE: Vojtech Jasny was given Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts Golden Medal, its highest honour, on 30 November 2015. Jasny was an early graduate of the academy’s film programme, FAMU.

    Jasny, age 90, gained international attention with his early films including The Cassandra Cat in 1963, winning the special Jury Prize at Cannes, and his 1968 film All My Good Countrymen which won the Best Director prize at Cannes before being banned under communism. Jasny then emigrated to the west, eventually residing in New York City.
