Marguerite to Open in the UK

    PRAGUE: Xavier Giannoli ‘s period drama Marguerite, which was shot entirely in the Czech Republic, will be released by Picturehouse Entertainment in the UK on 18 March 2016. The film is a coproduction between France, Belgium and the Czech Republic.

    Inspired by the real-life tale of Florence Foster Jenkins, the doomed soprano, Marguerite stars Catherine Frot as the wealthy socialite and aspiring singer Marguerite Dumont, queen of 1920’s French high society but owner of the worst sopano voice imaginable.

    The film was produced by French Fidélité Films and coproduced by Belgium's Scope Pictures and Sirena Film - the line producer on the Czech side. The Czech production designer Martin Kurel is part of the main crew of the film.

    Shooting took place mainly in Prague in 2014. Marguerite has been a hit in France where it had more than 1 m admissions. The film is distributed in France by Memento Films.
