PRODUCTION: German Heaven and Hell Begins Shooting in Czech Republic

    PRAGUE: Mia Film is handling production services on Heaven and Hell, a two part TV film which is the latest of several German productions shot in the Czech Republic in recent years.

    Heaven and Hell / Himmel und Hölle is a period film about the reformation movement in Germany and its main representative, the preacher Martin Luther (1483 – 1546). The film is shot on the occasion of 500th anniversary of the beginning of church reformation.

    The 50 days of shooting at various Czech locations including Křivoklát, Český Krumlov, Kutná hora and Zvíkov castle will continue until 6 December 2016. The local spend on the production is estimated at 3.8 m EUR.

    Heaven and Hell is produced by UFA Fiction and directed by Uwe Jansen, Maximilian Brückner is cast in the main role. Special decorations for the film created by Czech companies include Cranach´s printing workshop and the interiors of Wittenberg University.

    The film is slated for broadcast by ZDF TV in 2017.
