PLZEN: The Czech/French coproduction Skokan directed by Petr Václav will screen at the 31st edition of Finále Plzeň Film Festival. The most important Czech national film festival, presenting contemporary Czech and Slovak audiovisual production, will be held from 19 to 24 April 2018.

Skokan tells the story of a 28-year-old man who has just been released from prison. Outside the street is empty. Nobody expects Skokan. In the city where he lands, he has nowhere to go. Overnight, he decides to leave everything and start a singing career in Cannes.

Vaclav cast a non-professional actor for the main role, Julius Oračko, as he had already done many times in the past.

The film, produced by Jan Macola of Mimesis Film and coproduced by French Cinema Defacto and i/o post, was partially shot during the 2015 Cannes IFF, using the Cannes festival Palais and surroundings. The budget of 425,000 EUR / 11.5 m CZK was supported by the Czech Film Fund and the French CNC – Cinémas du monde.

Skokan was selected for the 2016 First Cut Lab, an editing workshop within When East Meets West in Trieste.
