Golden Globe Nods for Estonia and Poland

    The Estonian/Georgian coproduction Tangerines and the Polish/Danish film Ida took two of the five slots in the 2014 Best Foreign Language Film category when the Golden Globe nominations were announced on 11 December.

    The nomination of Tangerines caps an exceptionally strong year for Estonian films, while Ida has been an unprecedented success for Polish filmmaking with solid international box office on multiple markets.

    Tangerines was directed by Zaza Urushadze produced by Allfilm and Cinema 24 in Georgia. Cinemavault (Canada) is handling international distribution. The film was supported by the Georgian National Film Center and the Estonian Film Fund.

    Ida is a Danish-Polish drama directed by Paweł Pawlikowski and produced by Phoneix Fillm and Opus Film in association with Portobello Pictures (UK). It was supported by the Polish Film Institute.
