GRANTS: Estonia Announces Feature Films Production Grants

By

TALLINN: The Estonian Film Institute distributed 939,000 EUR as feature films productions grants to six projects.

Estonia’s domestic films reached a market share of over 10% for the second year in a row in 2016, but prospects for future production financing remain limited. The overall feature film budget of the Estonian Film Institute in 2017 will total 1.06 m EUR.

Shortage of funding has forced the institute to cancel its second round of feature films production funding in 2017, with the bulk of the budget of 939,000 EUR contracted out in the first two months of the year. Three new feature films were funded from the pool of ten applications.

Three features received follow-up production grants, totalling 327,000 euros.

In 2016 the Estonian Film Institute's budget for feature films was 1.3 m EUR (excluding the Republic of Estonia 100 special fund).
