PRODUCTION: Awarded Estonian Director Vallo Toomla Works on Portrait Documentary

    TALLINN: Estonian director Vallo Toomla is currently filming a portrait documentary under the working-title Marju Lepajõe. Words of the Days / Marju Lepajõe. Päevade sõnad, which will premiere in 2019.

    Toomla’s last film Pretenders, produced by Amrion (Estonia) and coproduced by Studio Uljana Kim (Lithuania) and Locomotive Productions (Latvia), was the first Estonian film to premiere at the San Sebastián International Film Festival.

    Marju Lepajõe. Words of the Days is a full-length documentary about Estonian religious scholar Marju Lepajõe. It’s one of six portrait documentaries produced as part of a portrait film competition organised by Estonian Public Broadcasting.

    The film received 12,500 EUR from the Estonian Film Institute in 2018. The film’s budget is 36,000 EUR and is supported by Estonian Public Broadcasting, the Estonian Film Institute, Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the production company F-Seitse.
