TALLINN: Domestic films in Estonia have passed the 650 000 admissions mark in just four and a half months. In 2018, Estonian films had almost 649,000 admissions in total. The increase in domestic film admissions indicates that 2019 promises to be the most successful year yet.

The biggest record-breaker is Truth and Justice directed by Tanel Toom and produced by Allfilm. The final film in the Estonian 100 film programme premiered in February quickly became the most watched Estonian film of all time. The historical epic has more than 260,000 admissions.

The most-watched documentary of 2019, Ott Tänak: the Movie, directed by Tarvo Mölder and produced by Sterotek Film, was another record-breaker. The documentary about the Estonian World Rally Championship Driver opened in first place and now has more than 81,000 admissions.

The most popular children’s film in 2019 is Lotte and the Lost Dragons. The full-length animated feature, directed by Janno Põldma and Heiki Ernits, produced by Eesti Joonisfilm and Rija Films, is the third sequence of the animated franchise. Lotte and the Lost Dragons premiered at the 2019 Berlinale. The film has more than 75, 800 admissions in Estonia.
