Georgia Funds Two Coproductions

    {mosimage}TIBLISI: Parajanov and Brother have won 2012 Co-Production Competition of the Georgian National Film Center (www.gnfc.ge).

    Parajanov will receive 155,000 GEL (69,000 Euros); Brother will receive 345,000 GEL (153,000 Euros).

    {mosimage}Brother is Georgian-French Co-production from Georgia's "Cinetech" film studio and producer Zurab Maghalashvili, and French producers Juliette Lepoutre and Marie-Pierre Macia of MPM Film. The director is Teona Grenade.

    The total budget of the film is 1 million Euros. The Georgian contribution is 30%, and the French contribution is 70%.

    The film tells the story of two brothers, one who feels music in his fingers, the other who holds a weapon.

    Parajanov is Georgian-Ukrainian project. The Georgian co-producer is "Gemini" film company and producer Tinatina Kajrishvili. The main producer is the Ukraine's Interfilm Production Studio and Olena Fetisova. The script-writer is Olena Fetisova. The directors are Olena Fetisova and Serge Avedikyan (winner of Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival for his animation film). The budget of the film is 2 million Euros.

    The film's protagonist is both a magician and a joker whose sadness and loneliness are reflected in his childlike behavior.
