Hungary Introduces Draft Amendment in Parliament

By FNE Staff
BUDAPEST: A draft amendment to the Hungarian film act has been introduced in the Hungarian parliament. The new bill will alter the basis for funding Hungarian cinema.

State Secretary Bence Retvari, who introduced the amendment, said that the bill would also cover art cinemas. The new proposal will require that 80% of a state-run lottery would go to support the Hungarian Film Fund.

The bill will also outline a new system for the transparent dispersal of public funding for films, and will create a new honorary title, "Film Artist of the Nation," to be awarded in place of the current "Master of Hungarian Film" award.
