Revolution inspire film competition

    Hungarian national TV channel MTV (www.mtv.hu) and the Prime Minister's Office (www.meh.hu) announced a screenwriting competition on the theme of the 1956 revolution (www.magyarorszag.hu/filmszabadsag56).

    Applicants under the age of 30 can submit an eight minute film study or a three page concept based upon the 1956 revolution and the youth of 56, taking place in the past or in the present.

    The jury president is director Geza Beremenyi director (The Disciples) and the members are Janos Rainer, the director of the Institute for the History of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, Berlinale shooting star Dorka Gryllus, directorsGyorgy Palfi (Hukkle) and Tamas Seres, and producer-director Zsolt Mesko.

    The jury will award the six best applications, and MTV will film the stories. The films will be screened October 23, 2009, the anniversary of the revolution and a national holiday in Hungary.

    The application deadline is October 28 and the results will be announced November 4.
