European Film Academy Award winner Balint Kenyeres is in preproduction for his feature film debut Yesterday, producer Laszlo Kantor told FNE.

The European co-production has an estimated budget of between 1.6 and 1.8 million euros.

The Hungarian production company of the movie is Új Budapest Filmstudio (www.ujbudapestfilmstudio.hu) under managing director Laszlo Kantor. The co-production partner is the Denmark's Zentropa (www.zentropa.dk) with producer Ib Tardini.

Kantor bought the rights of the story. "We have the concept and now we're looking for the right person for the script writing primarily in Denmark," Kantor said.

Kenyeres won the Best Short Film Award at the European Film Academy's ceremony in 2006 with his film Before Dawn. His latest short film The History of Aviation was shown at the opening of the 40th Hungarian Film Week in January.

The film is a thriller in the style of the Hungarian 1990 black and white movie Twilight by director Gyorgy Feher, Kantor said.

    Shooting will start in 2010.
