By Gyorgy Karpati
Forum Film Hungary has picked up theatrical distribution rights to SPI International's stable of acquired films in Hungary.

SPI International (www.spi.hu) and Forum Hungary (www.forumhungary.hu) announced the news in a joint statement.

Forum Film Hungary took over the Hungarian theatrical rights from SPI International on April 1, following a January 1 deal when Hungarian DVD rights went to Forum Home Entertainment from SPI. The agreement covers the enire SPI International theatrical release library. SPI International will focus on its Hungarian TV and VOD rights and its TV channels Filmbox Extra and Filmbox HD. Future plans include the launch of two new HD channels, Action Box and Fashion Box. The promotion of the ex-SPI theatrical and DVD releases are being supported by SPI's TV channels.

The agreement was signed by Loni Farhi, president of SPI International, and Mooky Greidinger, CEO of Cinema City International NV, which owns Forum Hungary and Forum Home Entertainment.

Forum Hungary launched in April 2005 as the subsidiary company of Cinema City International NV. The company is a major distribution performer in the Hungarian market representing such studios as Disney and Spyglass Entertainment. Cinema City International NV also owns the Cinema City multiplex-chain, with 12 multiplex cinemas nationwide and the only Hungarian IMAX cinema, and the DVD distributor Forum Home Entertainment.
