Digital Subscriptions Rise in Hungary

    BUDAPEST: Digital subscriptions climbed by slight over 1% during the month of March, according to the latest data released by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority.

    The Budapest Business Journal reported that the 12 leading Hungarian digital TV companies ended the month with an additional 15,000 subscribers, for a total of 1.48 million subscribers. The figure accounts for over 80% of the Hungarian market.

    UPC maintained the biggest market share, with 28.8%, followed by DIGI rising slightly to 26.8%, and Magyar Telekoms at 24.8%.

    With just over 3 million pay-TV households in Hungary, digital subscriptions are now close to 50%.
