BUDAPEST: Honeyland - German unity @ Balaton (Mezfold
- Nemet egyseg a balatonnal), a documentary from Hungarian director Péter Forgacs (www.forgacspeter.hu), is set to screen at Hungarian Film Week before going on to a TV release. The film is a
Hungarian-Dutch co-production between Új
Budapest Filmstúdió (www.ujbudapestfilmstudio.hu) and Lumen Film, supported
by ZDF (www.zdf.de),
ARTE (www.arte.tv)
and the Hungarian
Ministry of National Resources (www.nefmi.gov.hu).Producer László Kántor told FNE why he got involved in this 78.5 minute project exploring the charm and the spirit of the Balaton Lake through the ages: "First of all, Péter Forgács is an outstanding director whose movies can't be compared with any documentaries in the world. Secondly, the film makes us understand in a human way what happened in the last 30 years in the Eastern Europe. All his films work on this level, but here the Eastern European feelings and human beings are more interwined." The budget is 164,076 Euro, Kántor told FNE. The film will go directly to TV, and it will be screened on ZDF and ARTE first. Negotiations with sales company Films Boutique (www.filmsboutique.com) are underway.
