Kaunas International Film Festival announces Silver Audience Award
04 August 2010 By FNE Staff
Lithuanian movie channel "Silver" has become an official partner of Kaunas International Film Festival (www.kinofestivalis.lt). The 4th edition of the festival, October 1-10,  will introduce the "Silver Audience Award," with festival audiences voting for their favourite film. The winning film will receive substantial marketing on NonStop Television's channels. "Silver" is a channel for cineastes which puts the spotlight on critically acclaimed films produced outside the Hollywood studios. Focusing on contemporary film and its creators‚ "Silver" highlights new directors‚ actors and film genres. In Lithuania, Silver is available through TEO, among other cable TV providers.

"Kaunas International Film Festival is pleased to present the "Silver Audience Award" together with NonStop Television," said Ilona Jurkonytė, director of Kaunas International Film Festival. "We share the same goals - bringing quality films to film lovers. The prize provided by "Silver" is important for the filmmakers: it will bring a possibility for a film to be kept in the spotlight of even wider audience."

"Providing a platform for quality independent film from all over the world is Silver's and Kaunas International Film Festival's shared purpose.", says Ignas Scheynius, CEO at NonStop Television (www.nonstop.tv). "The Silver Audience Award, now present at film festivals all over the Baltic region as well as Scandinavia, plays an important part in realising that vision, offering film makers well needed marketing support"

Kaunas International Film Festival is one of Lithuania's most appreciated film festivals and the main film event in Kaunas City. It presents films that have received worldwide critical acclaim and also looks for new discoveries. The main priority of Kaunas IFF is a combination of the artistic and social statements in film.

Grazyna Torbicka
FNE Ambassador for Poland

"For me its very very useful, I receive and read it every day. It is very useful to know what's going on in the region and it was previously an undiscovered area. FNE is doing a very good job. FNE informs us about not only film but also TV and production. Very often I am using some subjects from FNE in my TV programme"
