Kinemastik short film fest opens in Malta

By FNE Staff

The 4th International Kinemastik Short Film Festival opened in Malta on June 28 and runs through July 12. This year's festival opened with an evening of 13 short films from the European Film Academy in Berlin. The festival closes with Weekend Selekt, a two-night program of films presented in a 1,000-capacity open air ravine.

Other highlights of the festival include a selection of films from Iraq entitled Baghdad Stories on July 8. The festival also hosts a three day workshop on stop trick animation led by last year's audience award winning Serbian filmmaker Milos Tomic. July 10 features an online web series about life in Baghdad, Hometown Baghdad, presented by director Ziad Turkey.
