Polish-British Series Leads TV Ratings

    WARSAW: The premier of Spies of Warsaw, the first coproduction between BBC and TVP, was seen by 3.6 million viewers on its 11 January premiere, making it the top rated show in Poland.

    Spies of Warsaw is a television adaptation of a best-selling novel by Allan Furst, a story of French, German, Russian and Polish secret agents immersed in a highly dangerous spy game. The series was shot in Poland between April and June of 2012. The lead role of a French double agent Jean-Francois Mercier is played by David Tennant. The cast includes Janet Montgomery, Marcin Dorociński and Mirosław Zbrojewicz.

     The co-operation between the broadcasters was initiated by BBC Worldwide and Apple Film Production.  The companies producing the picture are Fresh Pictures and Apple Film Production and the producers are Richard Fell and Dariusz Jabłoński. The series premiered on BBC on 9 January 2013.
