PRODUCTION: Polish-French-German Coproduction Marie Curie Shoots in Krakow

    KRAKOW: Marie Curie, a biographical costume drama about Maria Skłodowska-Curie, is being shot at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

    Marie Curie, directed by a French filmmaker Marie Noëlle, will showcase the life and career of one of the most recognized scientists and the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. The leading role is played by Polish actress Karolina Gruszka and the cast includes Polish actors Izabela Kuna, Piotr Głowacki, and Daniel Olbrychski, and French and German actors André Wilms, Charles Berling, Sabin Tambrea and Samuel Finzi.

    The cinematographer is Michał Englert. The set designer for this project is Eduard Krajewski (Germany), the costumes are designed by Cristobal Pidre and Florence Scholtes (Belgium), and the music is composed by Bruno Coulais (France).

    The film is produced by Pokromski Studio in coproduction with P’Artisan Filmproduktion (Germany) and Sepia Production (France). The planned budget is over 17 m PLN (4.1 m EUR) and the project received 1,775,000 PLN for production financing from the Polish Film Institute.

    The filming will last until June 2015 and takes place in Paris, Brussels, Munich, Łódź, Krakow and Łeba. The shoot in Poland is planned to last 20 days. The distributor of the picture is Kino Świat and the premiere is planned for 2016.
