    WARSAW: A list of film professionals and institutions nominated for the 8th edition of the Polish Film Institute (PISF) awards was announced this week.

    The Polish Film Institute awards were created in 2008 to show appreciation for the efforts of many cinema enthusiasts and organisations who propagate knowledge about cinema, promote Polish films in this country and abroad, educate young viewers, publish information about films, and organise festivals, retrospectives, exhibitions, and meetings with creators. The candidates are nominated by cultural institutions, film schools and other companies and institutions working within the culture sector.

    The celebratory gala for the PISF awards will take place during the 40th Gdynia Film Festival. The winners will be presented with a statuette designed by Piotr Michnikowski and 15 000 PLN. The 8th award chapter was headed by Director of the Polish Film Institute Agnieszka Odorowicz and includes Andrzej Goleniewski, Anna Grygiel, Maciej Gil , Artur Liebhart, Jerzy Moszkowicz, Michał Oleszczyk, Anna Osmólska-Mętrak, Magdalena Sendecka, Janusz Wąchała and Krystyna Zamysłowska.
