WARSAW: Marcin Krzyształowicz is working on Krakau, a WWII crime series set in 1944 Berlin and occupied Warsaw.

Krzyształowicz directed the highly praised war drama Manhunt (Skorpion Arte).

The starting point of the series will be marital conflict that leads to a spy intrigue. The script for the series is based on Krzysztłowicz's feature script entitled Hauptsturmführer, awarded at the Interscenario International Film Festival.

"Krakau will be produced in the style of noir cinema: crime, betrayal, forbidden love and plenty of perfectly fitted suits," Krzyształowicz told FNE.

The lead of the series will be Robert Więckiewicz, one of most popular Polish actors of the decade, acclaimed for his work in Andrzej Wajda's Wałęsa. A Man Of Hope (Akson Studio) and Agnieszka Holland's In Darkness (Studio Filmowe ZEBRA).

"This is a brilliantly written script that gives the crew a chance to produce a really good series. I am happy to take part in this project," Więckiewicz said.

Krzyształowicz has not yet announced what production company and station are attached to the project set to premiere in 2017.
