Poland Pins Oscar Hopes on Short-listed Doc

    WARSAW: Starting Point, a documentary by Polish director Michal Szczesniak, has made it onto the Oscar short list for best documentary short subject film.

    The film is a 2014 production of Munk Studio.

    The 26-minute film follows Aneta, serving a lengthy prison term for a murder she committed when she was young, who leaves the prison on a daily basis to work in a nearby nursing home. Through her conversations with a woman she cares for, Aneta reveals her rebellious past and her feelings about her future.
