Jacek Bromski Re-elected President of Polish Filmmakers Association

    WARSAW: Producer/director/writer Jacek Bromski was re-elected with an overwhelming majority to the position of president of the Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP) on 23 April 2016.

    Bromski, who assumed the post in 1996, has been elected to it a total of five times.

    The SFP, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2016, is the largest organization of film professionals in Poland. Among its numerous activities, the SFP represents Polish filmmakers, is an organizer of Polish film festivals, promotes Polish films in Poland and abroad and deals with copyright issues.

    "The Polish Filmmakers Association was created half a century ago in order to influence the shape of Polish cinema and take care of the filmmakers' interests. This is the main idea that we are loyal to till this day. We represent several different groups and we can differ on various issues, but our one and joint effort is cinematography and we are faithful to it." Bromski said in an official statement.

    Bromski is one of the leading figures in Polish filmmaking, among Polish film organizations and internationally. He has been President of the World Cinema Alliance (Alliance Mondiale du Cinema) since 2007 and was the first chairman of the Polish Film Institute. Among the awards he has received is the prestigious Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis.
