Wajda, Polański and Pawlikowski and Bromski Honoured by Polish Filmmakers Association

    WARSAW: Polish Filmmakers Association celebrated its 50th anniversary and awarded the most influential Polish filmmakers and film professionals.

    A special gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP) was held on 25 May 2016 in Warsaw. The SFP is currently the largest Polish artistic organisation
    representing Polish filmmakers and influencing Polish film industry. The 50th year of activity was commemorated by special awards that will be given out annually from now on. The first honorary recipient was Andrzej Wajda, who received his award on 6 March 2016 during his 90th birthday celebration. The honourary prizes were awarded to Janusz Majewski, Jerzy Hoffman, Marcel Łoziński, Krzysztof Zanussi, Paweł Edelman, Jerzy Skolimowski, Aneta Kopacz, Małgorzata Szumowska, Paweł Pawlikowski, Wojciech Marczewski, Piotr Gadzinowski,
    Bartosz Konopka, Tomasz Wasilewski, Agnieszka Odorowicz, Ewa Braun, Allan Starski and Janusz Zaorski.

    A special award was given to SFP's President Jacek Bromski to celebrate his 20th jubilee of heading the Association. "Dear Jacek, we thank you for all you did for the Association and we ask that you provide us with your experience and intuition as long as it is possible" said Andrzej Wajda and Janusz Majewski, SFP's honorary Presidents in an official statement.

    "I am very moved that we've managed tu survive the last 50 years in good condition. I hope that we will manage to do it for the next 50. I am happy that despite our political differences and other issues we've success in taking care filmmakers business like the intellectual property rules, that allow the authors to receive their fees and the cinematography bill, that we had to fight for almost 10 years." Jacek Bromski said during the gala.

    The SFP honourary award was also given to Roman Polański in Cracow by the President of the city Jacek Majchrowski. Polański was on hand in person to collect the award.
