WROCŁAW: The 7th edition of New Horizons Studio hosts 24 participants from all over the world and will train them in story and project development and pitching as well as on how the international film market works.

Joanna Łapińska, the Head of New Horizons Studio and the Artistic Director  of T-Mobile New Horizons IFF talked to FNE about the 7th edition of the workshop.

"Our participants will have a chance to develop their projects, to focus on their storytelling, to improve their pitching skills and to present their ideas in an international forum," Joanna Łapińska told FNE. "During the last couple of years we've discovered that this formula works. I am happy to say, that our past participants who are active in the industry are often sending their protégés to take part in the studio. They see it as a valuable training experience. I am also pleased to say that our workshop has inspired several other training programmes, so the message that we started out with seven years ago is now loud and clear." she adds.

During an intense, four-day workshop, the young filmmakers will have the chance to train under the tutorship of experienced professionals from all over the world. The workshop will wrap by a pitch presentation from the participants and a detailed analysis of their ideas by the workshop's speakers.

Among the 24 participants sixteen are from Poland. "It is crucial for them to work in diversified groups and to learn how the film industry works in other countries. Suddenly they see that they are not alone with their problems. They can also familiarise themselves with the solutions that other countries offer and enter into coproductions," Łapińska says.

The New Horizons Studio has been the birth place of several interesting, international cooperations such as People, I’m Not directed by Francesco Rizzi and produced by Artur Wyrzykowski, Joanna Zielińska, Michaela Pini and Villi Hermann through Artcore (Poland), Big Wave Films (Poland) and Imago Film (Switzerland).

The list of this year's New Horizons Studio speakers includes David Pope, Patrick Fischer, Ewa Puszczyńska, Kasia Karwan, Raymond Phathanavirangoon, Guillaume de Seille. Michał Marczak and Marta Golba will hold a special masterclass. "Our speakers come from very different parts of the film industry, and that allows us to present our participants with diverse views on the one topic we are all concerned with: film production.

The perspective of a film producer is juxtaposed with the outlook of a distributor and a sales agent. It is crucial that a young filmmaker or film professional should be familiarised with them all before entering the international film market," Joanna Łapińska adds.

The 7th New Horizons Studio takes place between 24-27th July 2016 within the 16th T-Mobile New Horizons FF organised by the T-Mobile New Horizons FF Association in cooperation with Creative Europe Desk Poland and London Film Academy.
