WARSAW: Renowned Polish filmmaker Jan Jakub Kolski will present his new drama Forest, 4 am, starring Krzysztof Majchrzak and Olga Bołądź, in the main competition of the 41st Gdynia Film Festival set to take place from 19 to 24 September 2016. Jan Jakub Kolski is also the producer, the co-writer and the DoP.
Forest, 4 am/ Las. 4 Rano is based on a script co-written by Kolski together with the leading actor Krzysztof Majchrzak, and follows a mysterious loner living in the forest, surviving on what he can hunt and gather. He used to be a successful CEO of a major corporation, but he decided to leave the luxurious life. The only person he talks to is a prostitute working by the read near the forest.
The cast includes Maria Blandzi, Aleksandra Michael, Grzegorz Stelmaszewski and Michał Kowalski.
„Forest, 4 am is a film about growing into humanity. Each sentiment that we bring from cinema to the real world makes this world a better place. Our crew was a mixture of experience and youth as it was composed of professionals and students, including newcomers. First and foremost, I had my dream team of actors Krzysztof Majchrzak, Olga Bołądź and Marysia Blandzi, who decided to follow me into the forest,” said Kolski.
This is the first feature film by the director's company Wytwórnia Doświadczalna, and it is produced in coproduction with Centrala, the Centre of Audiovisual Technologies CeTA and K2 Ltd. The film received a production grant of 165,669 EUR/ 700,000 PLN from the Polish Film Institute.
The film had the world premiere at the 19th Shanghai International Film Festival, but the date of the Polish premiere has not been set yet.
