WARSAW: Writer/director/producer Jan Jakub Kolski is working on a new drama, the Polish/Czech coproduction Pardon. Shooting is planned for autumn of 2017.

"The story is set in 1946 and follows a married couple who travel through Poland with a casket containing the body of their 26-year-old son. They want to bury him in peace. I based this story on the life of my uncle Wacław Szewczyk, who was a ‘cursed soldier’. He was shot by the communist regime’s Secret Police (UB) and he could not get peace, as UB dug him out of the grave three times, and each time his parents wanted to give him a proper burial. So they travel to bury him where there is peace and quiet", Jan Jakub Kolski told FNE.

One of the leading roles will be played by Grażyna Błęcka-Kolska, the director's longtime collaborator and ex-wife. Other actors have not been announced yet.

The film is produced by Centrala and the director's company Wytwórnia Doświadczalna in coproduction with the Czech company Mimesis Film. The planned budget is 1.6 m EUR / 6.8 m PLN. The project already received  production funding of 594,851 EUR / 2.5 m PLN from the Polish Film Institute,  minority coproduction funding of 187,230 EUR / 5 m CZK from the Czech Film Fund and 23,600 EUR / 100,000 PLN from the Łódź Film Fund.
