Netflix Picks up Polish Crime Series Ultraviolet

    WARSAW: Netflix bought the rights to stream the Polish crime series Ultraviolet directed by Jan Komasa and Sławomir Fabicki, and produced by Opus Film for AXN Crime.

    Marta Nieradkiewicz plays the main role of Ola Serafin, a young woman who is forced to move back to Łódź from London and who becomes a witness to a tragic accident. When the police deem the mysterious death a suicide, Ola is determined to uncover the truth and joins "Ultraviolet", an amateur detective group working on cases too difficult for the authorities.

    The show was shot in August of 2017 in Łódź, commissioned by Polish private broadcaster AXN and produced by Opus Film. It was written by Igor Brejdygant, Agnieszka Pilaszewska, Błażej Dzikowski, Filip Kasperaszek and Paulina Murawska. Along with Marta Nieradkiewicz, the all-star cast of Polish actors includes Sebastian Fabijański, Bartłomiej Topa, Agata Kulesza, Marek Kalita, Michał Żurawski and Magdalena Czerwińska.

    Ultraviolet premiered on AXN in October 2017 and noted an average viewership of 107,000 during the first 10 premiere episodes. AXN plans to pick up the series for another season.

    Netflix will premiere Ultraviolet by the end of 2018.
