FNE at Gdynia Film Festival 2018: The Butler

    GDYNIA: Polish director Filip Bajon’s new costume drama The Butler will screen in the main competition of the 43rd Gdynia Film Festival, running from 17 to 22 September 2018. NEXT FILM will release the film domestically on 21 September 2018.

    The Butler / Kamerdyner is a love story spanning 45 years (1900-1945) and following the von Krauss family against the backdrop of the tumultuous history of the Kashubian region.

    The script was co-written by Mirosław Piepka, Michał S. Prusk and Marek Klat, and the main characters are played by Janusz Gajos, Anna Radwan, Adam Woronowicz, Sebastian Fabijański, alongside other popular Polish actors.

    The film was produced by National Centre for Culture Polandin coproduction with the National Centre for Culture Poland, Next Film, Eda Coffee, Bell PPHU, Sklepy Merkus Tricity Poland, Meron and TVP. The producers are Olga Bieniek and Mirosław Piepka.

    The budget is 3.4 m EUR / 15 m PLN. The Polish Film Institute, the City of Gdańsk, the Gdynia Film Fund,, the Pomeranian Voidevoiship, Business Investment &Consulting and BAT supported the film.

    Shooting started in September 2015 and wrapped in April 2018. Several locations were used, including Gdańsk, Hel, Puck, Piaśnica, Wejherowo, Karwia, Mazuria and Warsaw.
