Nominations for Polish Eagles to be announced Monday

    Final preparations are under way for the 2008 edition of the Polish Film Awards, the country's equivalent of the Oscars. Nominations for Eagles in 15 categories will be announced on Monday (Feb. 4).

    The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony March 3.

    The awards are determined by the Polish Film Academy and backed by the Ministry of Culture and the Polish Film Institute.

    This year, an award will also be given for lifetime achievement. It will be announced Feb. 25, according to the awards website (www.pnf.pl). Acclaimed director Andrzej Wajda won an Eagle for lifetime achievement in 2000.
