FESTIVALS: In Darkness Wins Plus Camerimage

In Darkness, the Polish Oscar entry directed by Agnieszka Holland won the main competition award, the Golden Frog, for cinematographer Jolanta Dylewska at the Plus Camerimage IFF (www.pluscamerimage.pl), which ended on 3 December 2012.

In the Polish competition, the prize went to The Suicide Room directed by Jan Komasa with cinematography by Radosław Ładczuk.

Students from Hungary, Poland, and Germany won the three student competition awards.

Director/cinematographer Tomasz Wolski won the grand prix in the full-length documentary competition for his film Doctors, and Łukasz Żal, Piotr Bernaś shared the main prize in the short documentary competition for Paparazzi (directed by Bernaś), with a special mention going to cinematographer/director Wojciech Staroń for Argentinean Lesson.

The best director debut prize went to Karl Markovics for Breathing (cinematographer Martin Gschlacht), while Komasa picked up a second prize for best debuting cinematographer, again for The Suicide Room.
