Creative Europe's MEDIA moved to DG Connect

WARSAW: In a surprise move the European Commission has moved the management for the Creative Europe MEDIA programme to Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology (DG Connect). 

BUCHAREST: Romanian Director/screenwriter Ruxandra Zenide will start shooting her second feature, The Miracle of Tekir/Miracolul din Tekir on 20 October, a Swiss/Romanian coproduction planned for release in spring 2015.

RIGA: The 27th European Film Awards will take place in this year's Capital of Culture, Latvia's capital Riga. The European Film Academy and EFA Productions announced the titles of the 50 selected films from 31 European countries with 13 of the films coming from Central and Eastern Europe.

FESTIVALS: Cinematik Film Festival 2014 Winners

PIESTANY: Chosen by a panel of seventeen European critics, Paolo Sorrentino's The Great Beauty won the Meeting Point Europe Award at the Cinematik IFF this year.

The third LET´S CEE Film Festival will take place in Vienna from October 2nd until October 11th, 2014.

FNE asked Fatih Akin about his international coproduction The Cut that screened in the main competition at the recent Venice Film Festival. The Cut was supported by the Polish Film Institute among other partners. The Polish Film Institute has increasingly become involved in high profile international projects. RIGA: The producers of a doc about Latvian athlete Raymond Dombrovsky’s bid to cross North America on roller-skis have launched a kickstarter campaign to fund the film which has also received backing from the Latvian National Film Centre.
