FNE at Lux Prix 2015: Mustang Wins Top EU Prize

    STRASBOURG: The The French/Turkish/German coproduction Mustang directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven has been awarded the European Parliament's LUX Prize 2015 .

    But all three of the finalists were winners in this project with its focus on cultural diversity as Mustang along with the two finalists, Jonas Carpignano’s Mediterranea and Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov’s Bulgarian/Greek coproduction Urok/The Lesson will all be subtitled in all 24 official languages of the EU assuring the films a wide audience beyond their borders.

    This year’s Lux Prix was also a triumph for the concept of European coproductions as all three finalists are coproductions including Joans Carpignano’s Mediterranea which is a coproduction between Italy, United States, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Qatar.

    The awards were presented at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 24 November by European Parliament President Martin Schulz. The prize, decided on the basis of a vote by the Members of the European Parliament, is intended to celebrate the diversity and the social relevance of cinema in Europe.
