French Films Find Favor in CEE

    PARIS: French films claimed a market share of 8.9 percent in CEE territories. The numbers were driven by the strong performances of Taken 3 and The Little Prince across the region.

    The Little Prince opened in first place in Poland, the largest market in Central Europe, drawing 775,000 admissions. French films had a total of 2.7 m admissions in Poland.

    A second animated film, Asterix and Obelix: Mansion of the Gods, also performed well in the CEE region and had 200,000 admissions in Poland.

    Other films which had notable results included The Finishers with 80,000 admissions and Babysitting 2 with 35,000 admissions in two weeks in Romania.  

    Overall, admissions and box office for French films fell by 12 percent in 2015, but still stayed above the 100 million mark for admissions.
