FESTIVALS: Red Spider and Vasaryova Pick up goEast Prizes

    WIESBADEN: The Polish/Czech/Slovak coproduction Red Spider directed by Marcin Koszałka won the Best Director award and Emilia Vasaryova received an Honourable Mention for her title performance in the Slovak/Czech film Eva Nova from director Marko Skop at the 16th goEast Festival of Central and Eastern European Films during the closing ceremony on 26 April 2016.

    Russia took three awards including Best Film for Insight directed by Aleksandr Kott. A total of 45,000 EUR in prize money was awarded at the final ceremony.

    Young directors from Slovakia, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina were among the recipients of development funding for their films. They include, respectively, Milan Durnak (SK), Anda Puskas (RO) and Jasmin Brutus (BH).
